About Pets Near You

AC

Alex Colombo, Founder

Westchester County resident, pet owner, and electronics technician. I work with complex systems every day and got tired of watching friends and neighbors struggle to find trustworthy pet care. So I built this directory using real data from Google Business Profiles to make finding a good pet service provider less of a gamble.

Finding a good pet service provider shouldn't feel like a gamble. I built Pets Near You because I saw the same problem over and over: pet owners across the lower Hudson Valley and Fairfield County had no simple way to compare local providers without wading through national directories full of irrelevant listings.

How We Build Listings

Provider listings are built from Google Business Profile data where available. We pull ratings, review counts, and business information from Google, then organize it by locality. Featured status can change placement, but it does not bypass the location and operating-status checks required for a listing to be published. We don't fabricate reviews.

Here's what we check for each listing:

  • Google Place identity tied to the public business record
  • Google ratings and review counts pulled directly from Google's API
  • Location checks requiring the address locality or ZIP code to match the town shown
  • Business status check to filter out closed or inactive businesses

What We Cover

We list pet service providers across 8 service categories and 177 towns in six counties. Whether you need a vet in New Rochelle, a dog groomer in Stamford, or a pet sitter in Nyack, each published listing has public location evidence matching the town shown.

Why Local Matters

National directories like Yelp and Rover cast a wide net. That means you end up sifting through providers who technically "serve" your area but are based an hour away. We focus on six counties in the lower Hudson Valley and Fairfield County because a smaller geographic focus means better, more relevant results.

We know the pet care landscape in Westchester is different from Fairfield. We know that a dog walker in Stamford faces different conditions than one working in Peekskill. That local knowledge shapes how we organize and present provider information.

Always Free for Pet Owners

Searching, comparing, and contacting providers is completely free. We don't charge you to see ratings or phone numbers. When you call a provider from our site, you're calling them directly.
